Reverend Dorothy M. Macheel, an ordained minister, Bible teacher and personal counselor, was born December 20, 1911. Abandoned by her mother in infancy, and raised by her neglectful father and sadistic stepmother, she was the victim of severe cruelty and abuse. After she left home at 17, she supported herself by working long hours designing glassware in the cold and unhealthy environment of a glass factory. Through a co-op work program, she studied art at the University of Cincinnati, and often sacrificed food money to pay for her education.
She struggled with poor health as a result of the childhood abuse. She underwent multiple surgeries and treatments, but doctors were only able to provide partial relief. In need of help, and with no one to guide her, she was drawn into the mind sciences and other cults in search of a miracle of healing. But in her heart, it was a search for God and His guidance in her life.
Then one night, alone in her own home, God made himself known to her. In a true biblical experience, God took her to His Word and showed her His truth—literally taking her from spiritual darkness into His marvelous light. She was taught by the Holy Spirit and received spiritual insight. So it was then that God Himself called her into His service. She founded WOL Ministries International, a true gift ministry that operated according to 1 Corinthians 12:8, where she served God faithfully—until He called her home in 2005.
Reverend Macheel used her talents to design, write, and beautifully illustrate gospel tracts and booklets that reach the “eye gate”, so that all could see and understand. The gospel tracts contained the full message of God’s forgiveness of sins, and redemption through Christ’s blood. Her literature, because of her firsthand knowledge of cults and her deliverance from them, was designed to bring the same “darkness to light” deliverance to others. At first, she worked solely on her own. Later, she worked with a small group of volunteers—who had been helped through her personal counseling and Bible teaching ministry.
Due to irreparable inner-ear injuries suffered during her childhood, Reverend Macheel could not travel overseas. The Lord gave her the vision of training the nationals in their own countries and then supplying them with the anointed tools of evangelism—the printed page. Soon many local representatives in key areas around the world were spreading Christ’s message of forgiveness and deliverance to all those in need.
The literature was translated into multiple languages and dialects and sent all around the world, free and postpaid, to all who requested them. Testimonies poured in of salvation, healings, and deliverance from the bondage of Satan. Churches were built and established. Reverend Macheel wrote numerous articles and Bible study materials, and her radio messages were put into print. Through these, Christians were taught how to grow in the Lord and were made aware of the snares of the Devil that would weaken and lead them astray.
All around the world, the literature—with God’s tremendous anointing and convicting power resting heavily upon it—continues to bear much fruit for His kingdom.
